One of the most heartrending situations you can ever be faced with is to have a loved one in a dangerous situation that you can’t rescue them from. It can really come close to tearing you apart, to making you feel that you are literally losing your mind. It can come as having someone that you care about deeply being stricken with a serious, even terminal, illness that the doctors are at a loss as to what course of action to pursue. This can come in the form of having military personnel in your friends and family circle that are far away in a dangerous war zone. It can present itself in the form of someone in your life being struck with crippling depression that they can’t seem to pull themselves out of, and there’s little that someone on the outside can do about that.

Body language is an incredible tool to have in your arsenal as you fight your way to the top of the ladder. It is so subtle, that most people won’t be aware you are using it. As it is non-verbal it can’t be quoted back to anybody, you just do it and everybody will pick up on it without realising they have. This and a few psychological tips can make all the difference to your career, you can get your own way without having to scream or stamp your foot.

Part of the technique is called ‘priming’ which is where you use specific words or body language to get other people to do what you want them to without them knowing they have been asked.
If you are looking for promotion, take to wearing black, a well cut trouser suit is good and keep your smiles to a minimum because research has shown that people wearing black are viewed as more assertive, think of those bodyguards in the black suits, and are seen as dominant, whilst a straight face is seen as one who has a higher status in the office.
If you want to get on with the boss, take him a cup of coffee and stay to chat with him whilst he drinks it. There is something in a person holding something warm that subconsciously acts on that person, and as you are the one who has brought it to him, then you get this good feeling. Cold drinks do the opposite so beware.
