Fashion is buttoned all the way up!

Skirts and dresses, blouses and shirts are getting buttoned up! There’s a big focus on having lots of small, often fabric covered, buttons. This will be seen on both front and back parts of garments. One thing that’s once again is a big hit is the classic pencil skirt, but buttoned all the way up and/or all the way down! This means small tiny buttons, put closely together, and all of these buttons will of course make the garment adaptable if you feel like showing a bit of your legs or not (buttoning up or down…)

I don’t know if you’ve noticed the super large belts (almost like a corset but with no support for the bust, only for the waist) The belts are often put on top of blouses, dresses and tunique-like garments, in order to put focus on the waist. Some of these “corset-belts” have buckles in metal, or laces, but I recently saw one with these small types of buttons instead.

And what I’m trying to say is that the style of the belt is soon being transferred to the skirts, especially the pencils skirts! I try not to forget to look on the back of clothes, sometimes the back is far more beautiful than the front, thanks to these kinds of details. It’s very elegant to have a longer dress, or skirt (in a tailored style) with small small buttons going vertically all the way up to the neck!

Back to the pencil skirt, buttons or not, imagine it with a thin, sheer, “fluffy” blouse hanging out a bit but tucked inside of the skirt. Big generous sleeves, and maybe an oversized collar, worn with this little skirt, so tight and minimalistic.

Stina Lundberg Fashion Stylist Gives You Some Tips On, What to Wear On New Year’s Eve

Christmas and New Year are approaching. With these traditions comes for most people holidays and family dinners and parties. For those of you who like dressing up and never skip an occasion, this one is for you.

This current trend is actually underwear being worn in a new way, now they are meant to be seen! I guess that you have seen the huge amount of tops in corset-style this season, with ribbons to tie or buckle in metal in the back.

(I’ve seen many people wearing them with pants as a nice contrast, not to make it too girly…) Well that has already been seen, and now this trend is taking it a little bit further, letting the focus on underwear completely show with either transparent fabric, laces, or other satin or silk inspired materials.

The most interesting detail accorinding to my personal taste, that goes well with this theme is the see-through fabric, to be seen mostly on tops dresses and blouses. This goes for all kind of sheer and transparent material, which directly gives us the impression of something so very fragile and therefore precious.

With materials like lace, flounces, satin or silky materials, no need to say that this is a very “girly” trend, or maybe should I say “super feminine” trend, but it’s easy to adapt after personal taste. There’s always a way of getting inspired from trends but only using small details of it, for it to become your personal style. With this trend one could for example use the transparency to create a “layer-on-layer” look, with a see-through top on top of a plain black jersey dress.

In Fashion the early 90’s is Sneaking Up on Us

The early 90’s is sneaking up on us more than ever… this is the case in various different trends, but here is an obvious one: The slim 90’s dress with see through fabrics!

As I was saying, the series “Beverly Hills 90210”, or “Melrose Place” is the excellent inspiration for this trend. If you are thinking of the type of dresses the women in the series wore when going out on cocktails you’re completely right! That’s what’s coming up…

Look at this dress , where you have transparency and where the asymmetric part (which maybe is more a late  1980’s detail with only one sleeve) is definitely playing a big role on this dress, making it so dramatic and daring.

The Long Dress Is A Big Hit!

Maxi Dresses, The Long Dress Is A Big Hit!

Full length dresses of all kinds are coming more and more.

One type is the long tube dress, often in jersey. It has a strong wide elastic band that holds up the silky often wrinkled or pleated upper part that simply falls straight down in a light and summery way. This is a big inspiration of the hippies and their long wide dresses.

Elegance Through Wrinkled Clothes

To wear a badly ironed shirt with wrinkles on the collar or the sleeves has for long been a sign of “bad dressing manners”. (I’m putting in under ” ” because who is to judge what style is good or bad since all styles are personal and connected to the person who’s wearing them?..but anyway..)

There are many different ways of how to dress. The way of styling your clothes says a lot about yourself and is an excellent way to personalize your look. By this I mean for example how to choose what clothes to combine, what accessories you wear etc… It’s also the fact of HOW you wear your clothes, buttoned up or completely closed? Layer on layer, or showing a lot of skin? Small skimpy outfits or big baggy tents?

If you are not a fan of ironing your clothes, this one’s for you;

Animal Print Fashion Trend

A big trend when it comes to prints and graphics is quite natural after all…animals!
Inspiration is taken from our dear friends in the forest/the jungle…zebra stripes, leopard spots and all types of imitations of snakes and crocodiles.
I do say imitations because sometimes they’re pretty far out but funky since the colours aren’t always according to their “natural state”. There are pink and turquoise snake skin imitations for example…

Fancy dresses were made years ago for the women and children to wear. Traditionally that is all that women wore and were allowed to wear. They were beautiful form fitting gowns that required a corset under them to make the fit just right. They were made with tons of different materials and were all long flowing gowns that ran all the way to the floor.
