Whether it’s yellow, blue, red or green that you prefer, a trend it showing us different ways of dressing in the very same color tone. Some people call it “color blocks”. To be dressed in one single color from top to toe gives me slight flashbacks to the womens outfits in the 50′s, when even with the ear-rings are in the matching color:-)

As you might have noticed, on these photos there’s a bit of everything, not only strong flashy colors, but also light pastels and darker tone-in-tone outfits, that instantly make the “one color” to be more discrete and subtle.

When looking at these photos you can also see that in terms of collars, we are in a huge selections of different styles. Collars are one of my “favorite” part when creating my collections, since a collar is very eye catching! As well as it can breath-takingly beautiful it can also completely ruin a piece, if it’s in poor quality or not in harmony with it’s garment. More about collars later on…

On these photos we can also confirm that the draping technique is still very present, and interesting as it blends itself with more constructed pieces. And the see-through fabrics are still showing us plenty of different ways of

Loose fits and low cut garments show themselves more and more. As I have already mentioned, we can see loose, simple and comfortable shapes in many clothes this season. Still inspired from the pureness of the minimalist trends that we have seen for quite a while, the waist is “left alone” and is, concerning this trend, not marked and is, IF cut, cut much lower.
This is of course an inspiration from the mid and late 60′s, when the waist got to be less important to show…Huge contrast to what had been in the 1950′s…(When a high and strongly marked waist was popular, either in a flared A-line skirt or as the slim pencil skirt.)

Pure cuts and shapes are the key to many of the clothes to be seen this spring/summer. For those of you who think that there has been too much of details, glittery stones etc lately.. Here, you can enjoy simple, pure and ample shapes, with very little details, or maybe I should say, the shape is THE detail, and there’s no need for more than that.
There are still asymmetric shapes and cuts to be seen, especially on sleeves, necklines and on the hem, which gives a nice “break” to the otherwise so plain allover shape. There are more and more dresses with a slit, which also can be seen on sleeves, or like a vertical gap in the back etc.. (And coming up full-length tight dresses with a slit, totally reminding us of the 90′s, but more of that later on)
We still get to see many examples of wearing only one sleeve, which can be combined with a more deep cut neckline, showing more skin, or as you can see on this photo, completely “cut of”, as if they forgot to put the second sleeve on… The length in general for dresses within this “theme” is either just above knees, or full length. Volume is ample, comfortable and functional.
As for the long dress, there’s a small draped and asymmetrical style on the top, which makes me curious of the back of this garment, I would imagine the back being more or less open.

As in the beginning of the year 2000 we will see plenty of simple, plain and minimalistic garments. This trend is more about volume and primary shape than details. Pockets, zips, buttons and other finishings are, if existing, hidden inside of the garment, or on a place where it’s given little attention.
Volumes are reminding us of the dresses of Twiggy, but are here even more generous in shape, being totally straight and flat, in sort of a square shape. The bust and the waist are rarely marked and this typical “2D” garments are resembling to the Japanese art of patternmaking, when the garment is as flat as possible, and not “sculpted” in a “3D” way as it often is in Europe.
The neckline is straight or a little rounded, but stays close to the neck, showing very little skin. The fabrics in general are “clean”, pure and not covered in any details such as pearls, buttons or spangles.

If you like patterns, figures and objects decorating your clothes, this trend is for you (definetly not for me). To wear an all-over printed dress, or even a set with top+pants is starting to be seen more and more… Full patterned dresses, especially with flowers have been exploading with their presence the last season, with a huge amount of flower covered cotton dresses in a folkloric style.

Small roses completely covering up a simple everyday dress, reminding us of the dresses you wore as a little girl… Stepping away from that we can now dive into something more extreme when it comes to patterns and all-over prints… There will still be flowers, but more in an extreme surrealistic style, with reinforced, often powerful color tones. And surprisingly sharp contrasts are to be expected…

Fashion is a crucial part of our lives. Whether we like it or not, our appearance and private style are our first introduction to folks around us, and it is crucial to be stylish and fascinating, to leave a solid impression.
Trends pop up and vanish, and true style always stays favored and noticed. Some designers create true designs and fashion masterpieces. Their shoes are actually unique, super fashionable and their accessories are a must have for each fashion guru. There is only one problem – they’re extraordinarily expensive and thus not affordable for each fashion loving lady. Those items cost from $350 to $2500 and that’s too much, for plenty of us.

Skirts and dresses, blouses and shirts are getting buttoned up! There’s a big focus on having lots of small, often fabric covered, buttons. This will be seen on both front and back parts of garments. One thing that’s once again is a big hit is the classic pencil skirt, but buttoned all the way up and/or all the way down! This means small tiny buttons, put closely together, and all of these buttons will of course make the garment adaptable if you feel like showing a bit of your legs or not (buttoning up or down…)
I don’t know if you’ve noticed the super large belts (almost like a corset but with no support for the bust, only for the waist) The belts are often put on top of blouses, dresses and tunique-like garments, in order to put focus on the waist. Some of these “corset-belts” have buckles in metal, or laces, but I recently saw one with these small types of buttons instead.
And what I’m trying to say is that the style of the belt is soon being transferred to the skirts, especially the pencils skirts! I try not to forget to look on the back of clothes, sometimes the back is far more beautiful than the front, thanks to these kinds of details. It’s very elegant to have a longer dress, or skirt (in a tailored style) with small small buttons going vertically all the way up to the neck!
Back to the pencil skirt, buttons or not, imagine it with a thin, sheer, “fluffy” blouse hanging out a bit but tucked inside of the skirt. Big generous sleeves, and maybe an oversized collar, worn with this little skirt, so tight and minimalistic.

Black lace reminding us of the work of a spider… When I think of this trend of the black look it gets me to think a bit of Edith Piaf, either in a theatrical sense or a more minimalist and sophisticated style…
Lace is a big detail for this trend, a total look in black!
Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find a good picture of what I mean.
I’m talking about a theatrical, almost funeral like style, with tailored outfits, jackets and skirts that altogether give a sharp and strict impression. If they are not tailored they are at least “well-constructed” on a certain part of the outfit, for example a shoulder could be reinforced with pleats or pads that are building and re-shaping the chosen part, or the hips could be dramatically sculpted or have pockets clearly marking the wideness of the hips, in contrast to a firm and thin waist.
