Paris Alternative Shopping by Stina Lundberg
I have already given you some tips of the big regular flea markets in the suburbs of Paris, but sometimes there are also the smaller ones in the city..
A friend of mine has a thing for flea markets, as well as I do, but she and a couple of friends, actually gets together to sell stuff themselves. That is, they rent a table, a stand, in flea markets in the centre of Paris about two times a year.

She explained to me that during one year, there is already so much stuff that she just don’t use, clothes she is fed up with etc.. And since she doesn’t’ use these things why not see if other people could be interested…

Last weekend there was a flea market in the centre of Paris, not far from “Bastille”, and so I went there with some friends. The wave of kitsch and retro is so obvious, that even the fleamarket can put their prices up! There was everything from nice decorated cups and teapots (in the 50’s colours of brown, orange and yellow) as well as books, shoes, lamps, posters and pearl necklaces and so on.. There was of course also a lot of crap, as in every street market. Sometimes I wonder how people have the guts to put some really nasty, broken clothes for sale for 5-10 euros?.. But then again, that’s the thing with these markets…there is simply a little of everything…for all styles…

PS, I found a link all about American vintage for those of you who don’t like going to the big flea markets, or the vintages shops. shopping at home…(Just be prepared that you will spend more though, with higher prices and delivery costs, via Internet) www.am.vintage.com
