Elegance Through Wrinkled Clothes

  • To wear a badly ironed shirt with wrinkles on the collar or the sleeves has for long been a sign of “bad dressing manners”. (I’m putting in under ” ” because who is to judge what style is good or bad since all styles are personal and connected to the person who’s wearing them?..but anyway..)

    There are many different ways of how to dress. The way of styling your clothes says a lot about yourself and is an excellent way to personalize your look. By this I mean for example how to choose what clothes to combine, what accessories you wear etc… It’s also the fact of HOW you wear your clothes, buttoned up or completely closed? Layer on layer, or showing a lot of skin? Small skimpy outfits or big baggy tents?

    If you are not a fan of ironing your clothes, this one’s for you;

    A trend coming up is all about wrinkles!

    We are going to see more and more different types of clothes being worn in total wrinkles.

    This has been seen as an “I don’t care” look, and the wrinkles are often seen on

    big t-shirts or shirts/ blouses, in a sort of “sleepy” way.

    But now the wrinkles are here on total looks! You could even say that the wrinkles are regular… We’ll se skirts and tops ,combo suits and dresses all full of wrinkles.

    I like this aspect of dressing, of letting some life into the garments! Especially interesting is to see sheer thin silk dresses and blouses worn this way. (You can almost hear a comment of an older generation thinking “how could one wear silk in that careless manner?)

    This style of wrinkles will of course bring out all types of structured fabric such as crepe,  piké and seersucker, where you from the beginning have “life” in the fabric. Once again structure and depth continues to surprise us with their different surfaces.

    You could associate this trend of so called “carelessness” to a need of letting loose, being free and less “controlled”. We just simply want summer and vacation, and we don’t want to be forced to be serious and “well ironed” at all times. I find this trend perfectly matched with the summer we are in, just before entering the “serious” fall… Who wants to be completely well buttoned, and well-ironed in the time of the year when all we want is to have fun and to be free?

      wrinkle or crinkle finish cotton dresses are the perfect way to travel light and to have something smart and presentable to wear when you reach your destination. All you have to do is roll them up and stuff them in your suitcase or your carry-on baggage. Because of the crinkly finish, they will be as good as the day you bought them when you get your destination.
