Kitchen Facelift Tips

  • Kitchens may be sometimes the smallest room in the home minus the bathroom but they are not cheap to decorate in most cases. Kitchens are sometimes the room which you aren’t quite sure what you want to do. Other times you have a vision of knocking down a wall into the next room and making a breakfast bar.

If you aren’t into remodeling but just want a few updates to get your kitchen into the proper style then just do a few changes. Try a fresh coat of paint in a new color or a neutral color. This will brighten the area up and give you that great look it’s needed. Curtains are another way to update a space and its design. They are both inexpensive and can be done at any time.

Cabinets and drawers can always be updated with new hardware to give it more of a newer kitchen feels rather than an old one. Hardware is much different than it use to be. You’ll have many different options and textures as well as colors to choose from. If you’re able to find hardware that matches the paint and other palettes of color which you have going on in the kitchen dcor, place them on the cabinets and drawers. Just the little things will give you a great new look without having to break the bank.

If you have windows which let the natural light in, add a few plants in the window. This will just add a different punch of color into the room’s decor. Another great idea if you aren’t someone who has plenty of light entering their kitchen is a great silk floral arrangement. This will just give you the visual of nature without the watering.

If you have a canister set that you keep out on the counter tops, consider changing them for a new color to offset your paint. Using a table cloth and placemats on the table with napkin rings and matching salt/pepper shakers is a good way to add some color and give the kitchen either a classy look or a country kitchen look depending on what you are going for in look. You can also do something very contemporary if you have stainless steel appliances.

Adding an area rug into a kitchens decor will bring warmth and comfort for your feet if you are a big time cook. Finding a great area rug for the kitchen these days is easier than it use to be. With all the different patterns, shapes, sizes, and colors there will always be something out there for everyone’s taste. Since most kitchens either have wooden floors, laminate, or tiles your toes will be quite cold so this will keep them warm. It will also expand the life of your floor and also saves from scratches which may occur if something is dropped.

The last little items which you can place around the kitchen for a bit more decor is candles. These will add colors along with great scents when lit. If you have enough counter space try purchasing a fruit basket which you can place real fruit or even fake in as a great little decoration.
