Fashion TROPICAL FANTASY

  • As I mentioned before, in rough times of crisis and economic struggle, we need to be surrounded of « happy » thoughts or items. This could be, as you can see in actual trends, colours, childlike motives or shapes, glittery paillettes or gold like imitations.

BUT, there’s one motif used in graphics and prints that really symbolises this urge to escape….the palm trees!  Call it whatever you want; beach/Hawaiian/tropical or exotic inspiration…you will see it everywhere!

Just look at H&M’s last summer collection, it’s full of them! And if you look through a magazine I’m sure there’ll be palm trees. This will inevitably bring you an image of pleasure, happiness with colour tones making of think of papayas or pineapples… Thinking of life as if it was just a big wave to surf… This goes for all types of design, I’m especially thinking of interior design with cool prints on sofa pillows and wallpapers.

The typical beach straw hat is a classic that will glance with its presence, already on the market in various shapes… I’ve seen quite a few of those in a large scale, you know when they are extremely large and wide, giving a proper shadow to you shoulders. Another thing seen amongst accessories is a huge amount of different smooth silky thin scarves… of course many of them with the palm motif.

The colours are certainly affected of this “tropic-mania” and therefore colours like bright yellow, coral red, light coral red, and turquoise as well as all neon colours is completely “in”, for those who dig the tropics and the palm trees.

Oh my God Stina, I just love those tropical prints but sometimes you need the tropical light for them to work. I got some incredible shirts in Hawaii that I wore tied up at the waist. When I wore them when I got back home, they never looked as good as they did in Hawaii, even in summer at the beach.

      What a shame.

On the right place in the right time the palm trees design can be fun.

With global warming, we are going to be able to wear swimsuits in Paris all day long!
      So palm trees are welcome.

Hawaiian apparel is perfect for the tropical weather in Hawaii because it helps you stay cool and fashionable. Escape to your very own island paradise with colourful tropical clothing anywhere you are.
