Fashion Spring 2009 The Dots Are Back
After having had a huge impact of anything checked or squareshaped, here are the dots. They are big in any style or shape, graphic, classic big shapes, abstract ones,
or even rings instead of filled dots.

I think the dots easily gets “preppy” or to much “good girl”, or simply too connected with older ladies..But when I see some of the dots proposed for spring I don’t get that feeling at all. If the dots are “normal” and a bit boring, they are placed on a shape that is experimental and cool. Just look at Betsey Johnson! Dots are not really my thing, but this dress has something interesting over it, mostly because of it’s contrasted shape.
But if you think it’s too much to have dots on a top or dress, maybe it’s nice on accessories…I guess they will be “dotted” all over to! But then again, the trends are not something one must like…

Big classic dots, with the trendy ballon puff sleeves in ¾ lenght.
The lenght of the dress is still short since it’s still very
“in” to show of your legs!

As the hippie style seems to be everywhere, more or less obvious,
Here’s many examples of big trends for spring:
· Big flower prints
· Showing you waist! Those minitops of the early 90’s are back. (Lately there has been a big focus on the waist, using a belt on top of your dress or a seam on the garment that naturally marks your waist.. this is just a way to go even further with this trend)
· Dots, big dots. (I can imagine that we will see them not only on the fabrics outside, but not also on the lining of jackets or pockets…)

Big dots on a classic feminine top
And smaller dots on this sleeveless top in a rocky sense.

Hi Stina,
I love your postings and cannot wait for them as I feel that I am actually on a Paris street.
I am with you, I am not a big spots fan but some of those aren’t too bad, especially when they are mixed in with some other pattern.
Maybe I can use some polka-dot fabric to breathe some life into an old dress.
Thabks for the idea.
